A boy unique...

adopt, adopt, adopt! Even though my relationship with Sean failed...we are both still good fathers. I felt so sorry for that young kid! I look at Joe and I'm thrilled that I see a little progress each day.
This is truly heartbreaking on so many levels! At a time when most kids try to fit in because being different is deemed terrible, this brave boy was such a incredible example of stength. What kind of world do we live in that a child thinks its acceptable to kill another. Where are the killers parents? They deserve to be charged with a crime as well.
Our plan is to adopt in the next 2 years, but because of this story I put forth the question to Stefan "why does it have to be a baby?" So who knows.

I commend you on your question to Stefan. Through a volunteer organization, I've worked with children in two group homes (one for boys and another for girls). Kids are resillient and with positive role models in their lives, they amaze you. They are truly more challenging at times than my 2 year old, but with love and patience you get through and see them achieve.

Regardless of what age you two decide is right for your family, I know that you will be such a great Dad. You have a lot of love to share with whatever lucky child comes into your life.

BTW - I hear that Ellen is going to feature Larry's story on her show tomorrow.

Why differences in others are scary to people I'll never know.

What right age depends on not only who needs you, but how you view the experience going in. Each of my children have had more difficult ages than others, and I wonder how different they'd be if their world changed dramatically just then. I hope I made the right kind of parent for them in those stages. That's all we can hope for, I suppose.
