"Ladies" Who Lunch
Sean relates...
A dear long-time friend and I had a talkative lunch today! My buddy Alissa, who I have known (as well as her husband George) for nearly 18 years from college, had a delightful lunch on a patio in the lovely city that is Washington DC. We invaded our old alma mater The George Washington University (which is just a hop skip and jump from my job) and talked like we usually do about family, politics, and life. Alissa is one of the main people responsible for Stefan and I starting this blog in fact! It was through her encouragement the McFreeds have now entered your cyber-lives! It was surreal watching the incoming GWU freshmen being oriented around campus as we ate lunch. It made us feel old, but in a way it made me think back to what great times I had with some great friends who I still have today.... and the 30" waistline I had... gulp! Alissa is now nearby so I am now truly excited! Now if George would just pop his head out and wave next time!
I have been blessed the last month with visits or rekindlings of friendships with many people in my past lately. I got to visit my old college roommate and best buddy Tim and his family up in Pittsburgh. I heard from our other roommate Chris, who was and is as much a brother to me as Tim is. And I got back in touch with a great friend from high school, Brad, who because the Internet was not invented at the time fell out of touch after our families both moved out of the neighborhood.
It's true that friendships never die, they just go on vacation now and again!
