Well DVD addicts, the Format Wars I think are almost over - Warner Bros. announced this week that they are going to soley produced DVDs on Sony's Blue Ray only. Toshiba's HD-DVD format is all but dead now. Let's say a silent prayer shall we. Who knew Sony would win in a reverse war of their Beta vs VHS! Thank God we didn't buy a set or HD DVD player yet!

We've been waiting and watching for this, too. My 13 year-old has been saying it would be blue-ray, but I kept remembering betamax, of course. We do have an HD monitor, but are thinking we'll eventually get a larger one, and then get a PS3, since those already play blue ray discs.

If it does play out this way, it sure will render a lot of equipment obsolete.

We bet on blue-ray and bought a player for Christmas.

I honestly thought Time Warner would have held out a bit longer. (I work for one of their child companies.) With this though, pretty much all our media will be released on Blu-Ray. This includes New Line Cinema and the TV properties - such as Adult Swim.

I was actually hoping for the pipe dream that people would release dual format discs for a while until consumers helped lean the format one way or another.

And I just got a Toshiba HD-DVD player for Christmas, too. (sad)
