You coax the blood right out of our ears, Mame!
Sean reports... OK, I will make this short. Stefan is a HUGE fan of Lucille Ball. He bought a box set of movies put out by Turner Classic Movies (TCM aka Warner Bros) that contained Mame, the musical version starring Lucy, Bea Arthur, and Robert Preston. We watch the whole thing and well it was horrible! Stefan even agreed it was horrible. There was not connectivity of story and no transition from one scene to the next. Mame rarely had any scenes cementing a bond with the young nephew she is supposed to be influencing. And frankly I thought Ball was just not a strong enough presence. So, if you have a choice pick Auntie Mame with Rosalind Russell or the Broadway version with Angela Lansbury (if on DVD) if you have a hankerin' for this story about an eccentric aunt and her young charge.
