Stefan and Sean present...
Our friend Dennis (along with other friends who know who they are) convinced us to dress up this past Halloween as the Dick-In-The-Box guys from Saturday Night Live and participate in a karaoke contest at a local gay bar in Baltimore. His excuse? To show off his new costume as a band member of KISS, the 1970s and 1980s rock band with the crazy make-up. We chronicled this adventure in a November blog here. He did such a great job that this straight married man won 1st place at the gay bar but also at his wife Althea's office Christmas party.
So as part of some "shameless" promotion of Dennis' "act" here are a few live examples of his work capture on video. Luckily Sean's karaoke performance of ABBA's Take A Chance On Me (his first try at it) was not recorded for the ages. So here is he is, Dennis!
Dennis would like it known he is available for birthday and office parties, bar and bat mitzvahs, and bachelorette bar crawls in the Baltimore/Washington DC Area. Rock on!

Stefan isn't a huge fan of sci fi related things but I am! I have become addicted to the crazy British X-Files homage piece and Dr Who spin-off Torchwood. Just watched the most recent episode I had on the DVR and what a beautiful end to the show! A true romantic end of an episode involving Captain Jack Harkness (John Barrowman) and Captain Jack Harkness (Matt Rippy) in a farewell kiss. You have to understand the total arc of Torchwood to get it, but basically Barrowman's character stole Rippy's character's identity after Rippy's Captain Jack died in a 1941 German attack on Cardiff, England. They meet in an episode that involves a rift in the space time continuim. I know its weird, but oh so good! Enjoy the touching kiss between these two below. Yes Mom, the John Barrowman CD you gave me years ago has now sunk in!

During all the World Series madness, your McFreeds made plans with their friends Althea, Dennis, and Beth to attend a costume contest on Friday Oct 26th! The contest involved getting dressed up in the best costume you could come up with and sing karaoke! Well your McFreeds couldn't turn down a challenge! Of course the most difficult things to visualize though was what costume would we do!
Dennis was our leader on this expedition. Althea and he had met through a KISS pen pal network... so he was going as Paul, the one with the star on his face. Dennis prepared his costume for what seemed months and months sending us pics of it as it was a work in progress. He had the costume outsourced to a seamstress, who as you can see did a phenomenal job on the detail of the costume. What is funny is that Dennis is about a foot shorter than this costume and the boots really raised it him up tall. Althea just looked her normally sexy self, working with Beth to make sure all of us were not parched from lack of cocktails or beverages at the club!
Let it be said Dennis worked on this costume for months so what were the McFreeds going to come up with in a few days preparation! Thank God we had our friends Alan and Christy talk us into the idea at dinner one night... and Sean had had some beer!
D**k in the Box was our answer! Saturday Night Live struck comedy and Emmy gold for a digital short showing two guys offering their "members" in a nicely wrapped box to their girlfriends. The stars were SNL regular Andy Samberg and pop-idol Justin Timberlake. It conquered the YouTube world!
Now Stefan is the one to be credited with convincing Sean to do this. But it ended up being a hysterically fun time! After the horror of watching the Paul Lynde Halloween Special on dvd (oh yes it exists and is for sale!), we all headed to Baltimore's gay club The Hippo... in the worst rain storm of the year... and entered the contest. Suffice it to say the rain dampened the fun, but we all won a prize! Dennis won first prize, $50. And Sean took a giant leap for karaoke history and sang his first song (badly) - ABBA's Take A Chance On Me - for a 2nd prize finish - $25 bar tab! Now granted there were only two participants in the contest... but we still had a great laugh about it!
So enjoy our pictures... yes there are pictures... and laugh at our foolishness! We know our Moms and Dads are so proud at this moment!
As a BIG Postscript, Dennis signed his "celebrity" photo for us as a suprise gift!
