So I think I am jinxed! Lately, everytime I have put my cheerleading pom poms behind someone, some thing, or some team they turn out to be a losing proposition! I think I will label it the Curse of Stuart. Stuart was someone I hired in January. He quit after 2 days even after taking him out for Asian food as a team bonding exercise and welcome! LOL!! It was weird but I know it wasn't me or my team... it was just a wrong thing for the guy. But ever since, all the choices I have made in support have just gone up in smoke to many people's humorous acknowledgement! Let's do a roll call...
John Edwards endorsed - drops out the following week!
The New England Patriots go to the Super Bowl undefeated - they lose to the Giants!
Hillary Clinton endorsed - goes on 10 state losing streak! (although its not over!)
So I think I am going to swear off betting for a while and remain neutral a lot. And don't ask me to just support people now just so you can win ok?
Reminds me of a 1984 Saturday Night Live sketch with Julia Louis-Dreyfus and Mary Gross playing members of the Communist party who were being interviewed on a talk show hosted by castmate Billy Crystal. The women are very stern and hard-edged - until they say the same thing at the same time, at which point they both smile at each other, say "Jinx buy me a Coke!", and then do a silly childlike dance and rhyme. The routine is repeated several times in the sketch.
(Drinks a coke just to see if it works)

During all the World Series madness, your McFreeds made plans with their friends Althea, Dennis, and Beth to attend a costume contest on Friday Oct 26th! The contest involved getting dressed up in the best costume you could come up with and sing karaoke! Well your McFreeds couldn't turn down a challenge! Of course the most difficult things to visualize though was what costume would we do!
Dennis was our leader on this expedition. Althea and he had met through a KISS pen pal network... so he was going as Paul, the one with the star on his face. Dennis prepared his costume for what seemed months and months sending us pics of it as it was a work in progress. He had the costume outsourced to a seamstress, who as you can see did a phenomenal job on the detail of the costume. What is funny is that Dennis is about a foot shorter than this costume and the boots really raised it him up tall. Althea just looked her normally sexy self, working with Beth to make sure all of us were not parched from lack of cocktails or beverages at the club!
Let it be said Dennis worked on this costume for months so what were the McFreeds going to come up with in a few days preparation! Thank God we had our friends Alan and Christy talk us into the idea at dinner one night... and Sean had had some beer!
D**k in the Box was our answer! Saturday Night Live struck comedy and Emmy gold for a digital short showing two guys offering their "members" in a nicely wrapped box to their girlfriends. The stars were SNL regular Andy Samberg and pop-idol Justin Timberlake. It conquered the YouTube world!
Now Stefan is the one to be credited with convincing Sean to do this. But it ended up being a hysterically fun time! After the horror of watching the Paul Lynde Halloween Special on dvd (oh yes it exists and is for sale!), we all headed to Baltimore's gay club The Hippo... in the worst rain storm of the year... and entered the contest. Suffice it to say the rain dampened the fun, but we all won a prize! Dennis won first prize, $50. And Sean took a giant leap for karaoke history and sang his first song (badly) - ABBA's Take A Chance On Me - for a 2nd prize finish - $25 bar tab! Now granted there were only two participants in the contest... but we still had a great laugh about it!
So enjoy our pictures... yes there are pictures... and laugh at our foolishness! We know our Moms and Dads are so proud at this moment!
As a BIG Postscript, Dennis signed his "celebrity" photo for us as a suprise gift!

This is a Saturday Night Live digital short that tickles us funny since Carolyn (Stef's mom) was an exercise teacher for a long while... and plus the 1980s nostalgia is too much!
